St.
Thomas Hospital facilities include nine dedicated cardiac and
thoracic surgery operating rooms, six in-patient and out-patient
cardiac catheterization procedure rooms, 40 cardiac critical care
and 70 cardiac special care beds, 125 surgical beds with EKG monitoring,
and a dedicated unit for General Thoracic Surgery.
St. Thomas' Critical Care Units are staffed with nurses
who are seasoned professionals, with critical care experience
and certification as well as experienced in postoperative cardiac
care. A Board certified cardiac surgeon or cardiovascular anesthesiologist
is on duty in the hospital, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. St.
Thomas Medical Staff has 35 cardiologists who perform over 10,000
cardiac catheterizations each year.
